What is Rock the Rails?

  • Rock the Rails is a youth festival featuring competitions in the skate park, live DJ, a graf art camp, ukulele camps, Hip Hop and BreakDance camps, food trucks, a Freestyle Market, and much more.

Is there a cost to attend this event?

  • The event is free for all to attend, but there are some nominal costs associated with various activities. Competition registration is also free.

When is the event taking place?

  • The event is being held on Saturday, August 11, 2018. Check in time for competitors is 10 a.m. and competition starts at 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where is it taking place?

  • The event is being held at the Skateboard Park located at 50th Street and Corinthia Drive, across from No Frills in Leduc, Alberta.

How many people are expected to attend?

  • The park can accommodate approximately 1500 people. The area and event is well equipped to handle this number of people – volunteers, Community Peace Officers, RCMP, Fire, EMS, etc.

Will the event affect residents?

  • The event takes place between 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Community Peace Officers will be at the event checking noise levels periodically throughout the event.

How do I get more information or sign up for the event?

  • Call The City of Leduc Community Development Service Planning at 780-980-7177.
  • Fill out a registration form if you wish to participate in either the skateboard / BMX / Scooter / Trial competitions.

Will the event go on rain or shine?

  • The City of Leduc will be reviewing the weather forecast prior to the event and if it seems unfavourable, the event will altered; competitions will be canceled, however events and activities will move indoors to the Alex Arena.
  • If in doubt, check out Rock the Rails on Facebook and Twitter for up to the minute info! 

Is this a safe event for my child to attend?

  • This is a youth-friendly event that will be drug and alcohol free. Volunteers, City staff, Enforcement Services and others will be on site during the entire event.

Will there be washrooms on site?

  • There will be outhouses on site.

How will garbage from the event be dealt with?

  • There will be a set up and tear down crew that will be responsible for ensuring the park is left in good condition after the event.
